Established in December 1989 by Gerald Flurry, the Philadelphia Church of God began as a very small group holding to the doctrines espoused by Herbert W. Armstrong. Since that time, the PCG has grown in scope and magnitude. Its call center takes over four thousand calls each week—most in response to the weekly Key of David television program—while mail operations sends out over three million pieces of literature each year. Sine its inception in 1989, the church has mailed over 50 million pieces of free literature.
In 2001, the PCG founded Herbert W. Armstrong College, in the tradition of Ambassador College under Mr. Armstrong. The college has over 60 full-time students with a nearly equal number of faculty members.
In the mid-90s, the PCG established Armstrong International Cultural Foundation as a humanitarian instrument. The Foundation brings world-renown musical performers to Oklahoma for concertgoers and sponsors an archaeological dig in Jerusalem.
